Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center's mission is to meet the needs of our veterans and their families by providing information, referrals and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country. Working partnerships are continuously established with local and statewide community agencies and organizations who work together to find solutions to the problems and needs facing our Gwinnett County veterans.
When a special needs child reaches age 22, they are no longer able to attend public school. When this occurs, their families must make some very difficult choices. Finding an organization devoted to providing daily activities for their special needs to remain social, active and happy becomes a priority. Families need a resource like FriendsUNeed, an organization that provides life enrichment without placing a financial burden on their households. FriendsUNeed, affectionately called “Fun Club” by its members. We provide recreation, community service, personal enrichment and daily life skills education activities as well as transportation to, and from, our facility. Nonprofit, 501C3
The North Gwinnett Cooperative was formed in 1991 as a ministry that provides food, clothing, financial assistance and spiritual support to those in need in the Buford, Suwanee, and Sugar Hill communities. Originally formed by Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in 1991, the ministry is now supported by additional congregations, area businesses, civic organizations, schools and individuals who generously donate food, clothing, financial resources, and committed volunteer efforts. We are a nonprofit, 501C3 Corporation and a residential care facility which provides services for homeless children from 0-17 years of age along with their young mothers. We also provide care and services for homeless girls aging out of the foster care system at 18 years of age. We provide customized “Life Plans” that are designed around the physical, emotional and educational needs of our kids, while helping Mom create a plan of action to get back on her feet. Our goal is not simply to be a place of refuge, we are the “NEXT STEP” towards independence.
The Scholarship Foundation provides access to postsecondary education to members of our community who otherwise would not have the financial means to fulfill their educational goals. The Foundation sees higher education as a catalyst, an agent of change for individuals, families, communities, and nations. The mission of the Buford City Schools Foundation is to empower students to reach their full potential as lifelong learners and effective members of society by inspiring them to think, to achieve and to care.
